comings in on the old five day. a little bit of bit fog yesterday. it retreated around noon. santa rosa reports a little fog. overall if you enjoyed yesterday ewe will tyke today. similar temps. traffic is moving along pretty well if you are near the bay. san francisco northbound 101 as you dave up to the 80 split that traffic is off to a good start. let's go back to the desk. we begin with breaking news from contra costa county. ktvu news just confirmed a police officer in pittsburg in the east bay has been wounded in an over night shooting. tara moriarty joins us from the scene. >> reporter: that officer was wounded but he has been treated and released from a nearby hospital so that is the good news. now we are standing at maple and let's see the street right here. maple and santa fe. this is about a block from

where all of this happened. it happened around midnight. police confirmed one suspect was shot. he is described as a 30-year- old man from oakly with an extensive record with weapon charges. his condition has stabilized and he is expected to survive. police were trying to talk to him around 11:30 last night but he ran away. when officers pursued him he shot at them and the officers returned fire. there are other people with the suspect. they were running as well. they are being interviewed at the time. they need to do more in their investigation. a police lieutenant is out here right now and he will be providing us with an update in a couple minutes. of course we will pass that along to you. we are live in pittsburg i'm tara moriarty. it could take days if not week where is a mountain are

that of accused murder christopher dorner. he shot and killed a san bernardino sheriffs deputy before barricaded himself. coming up in a few minutes a live report from southern california. the final hours of one of the largest man hunts in state history. we have developing news in santa clara. chp officers are guarding a home where a bomb was found and blown up over night. the highway patrol says it made the dangerous discovery yesterday at humboldt avenue just a block away from santa clara high school. officers with a search warrant found the home made bomb while investigates a threat against a public official. a bomb squad buried the device in the front yard and detonated it safety. there may still be bomb making materials inside and the bomb squad will return this morning. three homes were evacuated during this ordeal yesterday. the bomb making suspect was not home at the time.

in ore night news more than 100 workers were evacuated during a pneumonia leak. it happened at 10:00. fire officials told our photographer there was a ammonia leak inside a refrigeration system. it lasted about three hours and no one was hurt. reports of shots fired at a car in dublin. here is new video of an suv with three bullet holes on the passenger side door. the driver told authorities someone opened fire while he was exiting westbound 580 highway around 84 around 10:00. he pulled over into a shopping center at dublin boulevard. one person was taken to the hospital. we don't know the extent of his injuries. barry bonds is due back in a san francisco courtroom. he will ask a federal appeals court to throw out his felony

numbers. it will be warmer thursday into friday. still nice on saturday. cooler but dry on sunday. we continue our coverage of accused murder christopher dorner. forensic tests will be conducted on the remains found in a burned out cabin in big bear. jim. >> reporter: hey brian. huge sense of relief in southern california as it appears the man hunt is finally over. a charred body was found inside the debris of a big bear california cabin late tuesday. they will have to wait to positive confirm the replains are of christopher dorner. >> it's difficult to identify the remains of someone in a building and that could take days and possibly weeks to do a dna analysis. >> reporter: a man matching dorners description was spotted driving in the area.

>> the woman in front realized there was a truck driving erratically at a high rate of speed. he took a close lack at the driver and recognized him as a suspect. >> dorner fired on him. before carjacking another car and taking off in the woods and retreating to a cabin. as first responders moved in two sheriffs deputies were shot. one later died. >> our law enforcement agency is a brotherhood. this is a very difficult day for law enforcement. >> reporter: a swat team later stormed the cabin and smoke devices were detonated. tuesday marked a firey finale. investigators say dorner was out to revenge his firing from the los angeles police force by targeting officers and their families. on february 3rd he gunned down the daughter of an officer involved in his interrogation hearing along with the woman's

a rugby tournament in las vegas when their vehicle hit a center divide. a fifth person survived the crash and is recovering in the hospital. time now 4:44. a man suspected of trying to blow up a bank in oakland is in court today. 28-year-old matthew aaron lenaza was planning on detonating a car bomb in front of the bank of america. an under cover fbi agent poses as a taliban sympathizer helped him build the bomb which was a fake. he wanted to carry out a terrorist attack but civil rights groups say he is mentally ill and incapable of a plot on his own. the man of killing a 13- year-old girl will be arraigned in court today. police arrested 32-year-old anthony lamar jones in fairfield on friday. he raped and killed janell conway allen.

her body was found in a park on february 1st. police are not saying how jones crossed paths with the girl. it happened yesterday afternoon on monterey street. the police officers from berkeley said they came to the richmond home to serve a search warrant when the dogs attacked them. police opened fire and killed the dogs when they attacked an officer. the white house is unvailing details of president obama's plan to deal with the growing threat of cyber attacks. in his state of the union address, the president said power grids, financial institutions, and air traffic control systems are all targets. he signed an executive order calls for new standards to protect computer systems that run crucial infrastructure. the order also directs intelligence agencies to share classified threat information with the companies. tomorrow afternoon a board will hear proposal to buy an unmanned drone. the sheriff wants to fly the

people that commute between pittsburg and the pahl street station. >> i think we have not heard the end of that story. >> definitely not. sal, what is the traffic like? >> we just got word of an injury crash that is blocking several lanes. i want to ask dave my buddy to put the map up. dave is the guy in the back of the control room who kind of like oz you pull the curtain back. southbound 680, 84 there is a crash there and we're just finding out about it. blocking three lanes. look agent the camera it's not there so it's before that. it is very early in the morning. we don't have a big backup yet but this could be trouble unless they get it out of the way. let's move along to live pictures now. we can go back to the normal

format. westbound 80 that traffic looks pretty good. no major problems as you drive through. also the morning commute is moving along pretty well as you drive to the bay bridge toll plaza. no major problems. and at 280 northbound that is looking good. again we have that problem on 680 we will follow that for you. let's go to steve. sal, thank you, sir. a little bit of fog. what is not showing up is patchy fog from vet lieu ma. there is also some on the coast. yesterday it increased. i think we will see a similar pattern today. san francisco didn't change much. high 60 yesterday. some patchy low clouds. not a lot. the system continues to ride up and over a ridge of high pressure. there are signs that colder systems might dig into the north and east of us. the next couple of days look

21-year-old told police she was attacked at this stop near natural bridges state beach monday night. police say a man pointed a rifle and demanded everything she had. the victim was hit in the back of the head by what she thought was the butt of the rifle. it was actually a bullet. >> she was amazing. she will be able to keep her whits about her. she will be able to pay attention to her surroundings. fight to survive through this ordeal and get help. >> doctors at dominican hospitals successfully removed the bullet which pierced only part of her skull.

here's a description of a suspect. the victim also says she saw a white pt cruiser circle the area before the robbery. firefighters in he'lls burg are trying to figure out what caused a fire. time now 4:55. let's get you out the door. sal you are looking at something going on at 680. >> that is right it's a crash. 680 southbound it's an injury crash blocking a couple of lanes there. maybe as many as three lanes. traffic is very light in the area. so we don't have a huge backup yet. this could be a big problem if it is not cleared soon. we'll let you know about ha. also looking at other commutes bay bridge is light. it's pretty early here. no problems get into the city

via the bay bridge. if you are driving on interstate 880 in oakland we are off to a good start. let's go to steve. >> a little bit of patchy fog. north bay and some starting to come back to the coast. yesterday it ramped up. then it started to burn off pretty fast. there was a little component of an offshore breeze. it will be another sunny nice day. that system we had last friday which brought us a quarter inch of rain. it's marching across the country. all the way from new orleans into florida panhandle. and some of that rain is turning to a mixed precipitation from st. louis to cincinnati. that is our little guy from last friday. still producing variety of weather. snow and severe weather. 30s and 40s for us. napa at 30 degrees. other areas are 10-13-degrees warmer. high pressure a mountain of it right over us right now. it will continue to get stronger all the way into friday. sunny and mild today. morning fog. again that will burn off.
